Retro Modern Nursery Furniture

I‘ve spent some time lately helping my sister and her husband move into their first house. While my personal design aesthetic is pretty firmly traditional, hers couldn’t be more different. And I love it.

Jill is definitely more modern – some of it mid-century modern, some of it not. She favors blacks and grays with punches of color. Straight lines and bold geometric statements.

This furniture would be perfect for her nursery. If she had a nursery. Or kids.

The Nest Bassinet, at Babesta for $799

The Eames Molded Plastic Rocker, at modernseed for $449 (available in white, black, red, green and light blue)

The Oeuf Sparrow Crib in Jill’s favorite gray, at Babesta for $690

I love everything except the crib. It feels like a prison to me – maybe cause of the grey? I was just trying to think where my taste falls in between you two. I’m not really sure – although I think Mom was spot-on at Crate & Barrel one time picking out couches for each of our tastes. I’m pretty sure she likes that we are all so different so she can help decorate in many styles.

I think that the crib would look less “institutional” with bright linens though. I love brights against a deep gray…
