After I quit my full-time lawyering job several years ago (after kids one and two but before kids three and four), I often found myself at a loss when meeting someone new. It always seemed like the appropriate time to exchange business cards with contact information. But I didn’t have a business. And the only cards I had were old and out-of-date. I handed out countless outdated cards with my office info scratched out and my email and cell phone number scribbled in.
Nothing new, calling cards are making a comeback with a vengeance. In this age of constant communication, looking someone up in the local phone book ain’t gonna cut it.
Take a peek at these darling options for moms to exchange on playdates, at the park, at school, at the ballfields or any of the countless other places moms go and meet one another:

20 cards for $14, by event123
300 cards for $85, by OhSmile
50 for $26, by lepapierstudio
20 for $14, by saratams
I am totally ordering my next set of business/mommy cards from an etsy artist. I’m just not sure how to decide which one!

Maybe this is the “I don’t have kids yet” side of me coming out, but can’t you just have a card with your name and info on it – without the “so-and-so’s mom” part? I mean, it’s just so mom-nerdy… Like, the next thing you have to do is go buy some Mom Jeans.

When you’ve met another mom at soccer, dance, piano or the playground – places where there is no school directory – you might get someone’s card home and not remember their kid’s name. Believe me, not remembering stuff is a HUGE part of being a mom.
Is it mom-nerdy? Maybe. Do I have these cards? No – but I might think about it if I didn’t have business cards now (which I do). The ones I selected were the cutest I saw. I’ve seen some that look very, very much like business cards and some that look completely juvenile and stupid.
Thanks for the Mom Jeans link – I had forgotten about that. Sooo good.

Kate, I bought these today! Adorable. And probably mom-nerdy, but what can I say? Just today I fumbled around in my purse for a pen with another mom at swim lessons. Never again! I just found this site. I have been cruising thru your old posts. Love it. You are uber talented. Let’s exchange cards!

Thanks Abby! When your kids have cool names like ours do, you just can’t help but put them on the card…
