I‘m a bit obsessed with wallpaper these days. Of course, I haven’t put any up yet (even though we’ve been in this house for three years now). But I’m always thinking about papering my dining room, the office, a bathroom or two. I’ve always had wallpaper in my other houses – it’s just such a statement.

Speaking of statements, I ran across PaperBoy wallpaper in my internet travels this week. Handcrafted, it is made-to-order in England. (They offer matching fabric as well.)

Only a few patterns but they are SO unique! I’m not sure I could handle an entire room of these patterns but they sure would lend a HUGE punch on one or two walls. Don’t you think so?!

Look closely at the dinosaur pattern and you’ll find little boys silhouetted as well. Just the right touch.

There are a few different color choices and one more pattern over at the PaperBoy website.

Each roll is 10m (10.9 yards) and costs anywhere from £78-100 a roll.  That’s about $130-167 for us Yanks.

Land of Nod may not be a locally-owned baby furniture store. It may not have the indie-cred of Etsy. But damn, they’ve got some cute stuff…

I’ve mentioned before that my daughter’s bedding is from Land of Nod. They consistently have fun, relatively unique furniture, bedding and toys. Good quality, solid design.

They now sell Dutch-designed Stokke furniture and gear. Non-traditional and very fun. Cribs, strollers, high chairs.
Just darling.

Lindy over at the appropriately-named Etsy shop “Crafted by Lindy” was kind enough to become a Facebook fan of Sassy and George the other day. So, I wandered over to her shop to poke around a little.

She’s got some really cute little animal prints for a child’s bedroom, playroom, or bathroom. They are whimsical without being overly “cutesy”, if that makes sense. And they’re very affordable. Six dollars will get you a 5×5 inch print. Couple that with a ready-made frame from Michael’s, Joann or Hobby Lobby and you’ve got some very economical wall pieces.

So, I was poking around on Etsy earlier. As usual. And I decided to go through my “Favorites” folder and clean it up a little. And I came across John W. Golden’s Etsy shop. I had bookmarked it ages ago when I started thinking about what to do for my 2 1/2 year old twin boys’ “big boy room”. (Still haven’t decided, by the way.)

I had forgotten how cute these “By Order of the Management” prints were. The ones I’ve listed here are 6″x10″ but John also prints these in larger sizes, specifically 10.8″x18″ and 12.8″x21″. They make me smile.

My favorite is “Mind Your P’s & Q’s”…what’s yours?

Confession: I didn’t wear any of my babies. With the first two, slings weren’t yet on the mom-to-be radar in my little corner of the Midwest. And the second two were twins – so I was a bit overwhelmed with life and couldn’t imagine even trying to wear either of them. But I can completely see the benefits of babywearing. (Yes, the intimacy and closeness of the attachment but MORE! IMPORTANTLY! the free hands!)

Thanks to Twitter, I recently came across the darling baby slings at Polkadot Papoose. And? Tara of Polkadot Papoose lives here in Kansas City!

Love the fabrics and what appears to be an amazingly simple sling design. I think that even I could figure out how to use this one…

(You could probably get Dad to wear one of these new solid color slings even…)

So, you might remember that I’m working on a design for my twins’ “big boy” room. Not “working” exactly. More like “thinking about a lot”.

I’m still strongly considering the iron beds I posted about last week. But then I saw a few wooden beds at Posh Tots that I really like too. Since I’ll need two, I’m not convinced that the size of their room can handle any of these but I wanted to share them.

We’ve been starting to think about transitioning my two-year-old twin boys into a big boy room. (And when I say “we”, please understand that my husband has absolutely no idea that we need to re-decorate when we move the cribs out. “We” means me and my interior-design-superstah mother.) It won’t happen until much later this year probably – but the thought process has begun.

I was originally thinking a linen-upholstered padded headboard with nailhead trim for each twin bed. But then I thought – these are the two children who have destroyed more things in my home than I previously thought possible to destroy. Do I really want to give them linen? I’m now working on Plan B.

I didn’t have this problem when planning my daughter’s big girl room several years ago. I went with a delicate diamond-patchwork quilt from The Land of Nod.  And this bed with a flat pewter finish from FineIronBeds.com:

I loved it so much that, when we moved to a new house about 18 months later, I bought another one – so she has two matching twins beds like in the photo. It is really darling. (The beds are shipped via freight carrier directly to your home. No problems at all – but you will have to arrange a time to be home to accept the shipment off the truck.)

Inspired a bit by the antique brass bed in Heather Armstrong’s new nursery – see it over at dooce.com – I’m starting to consider brass or iron beds for the boys’ room. Something strong and traditional though – not as girly as the Coventry.
