Okay, I know it’s still July. And it’s, oh, just a little bit hot outside. A bit sticky here in the Midwest at least. But I came across these darling wool coats and capes for Fall/Winter 2009 today. They’re by Patouche out of Canada. Patouche’s fall line was inspired by Little-Red-Riding-Hood’s wander through the woods [...]

Hoot Baby Designs

by sassyandgeorge on July 11, 2009

in Girls' Clothing

Sophisticated but fun fabrics. Attention to detail like I’ve never seen. Meticulous contrasting linings, reverses and edging. Beautiful construction. All of these describe Hoot Baby’s lovely designs for little girls. Dresses, tunics, skirts, bloomers – all of Hoot Baby’s pieces look delicious enough for a special occasion. And yet, they’re fun and not fancy, frilly [...]

New Era Rag Dolls

by sassyandgeorge on June 22, 2009

in Toys

When I was little, I had a beautifully handmade Raggedy Ann Doll. She had embroidered facial features and perfectly looped yarn hair on her flat, round head. She was lovely and I wish I knew where she was now. Is she at my mother’s house? Did one of my sisters steal her? Hello? Jill? Cara? [...]

Mom Calling Cards on Etsy

in Other Cool Stuff

It always seemed like the appropriate time to exchange business cards with contact information. But I didn’t have a business. And the only [...]

It does take something special, something new, something unique to make me “SQUEEEE!” Okay, maybe that doesn’t ring true when I do that all the time here. But, people? I look at hundreds and hundreds of dresses, crib sets, rocking chairs, shoes, hair bows and the like. Only the ones that make me smile or [...]

Pinafores from The Trendy Tot

by sassyandgeorge on April 8, 2009

in Girls' Clothing

I‘m a sucker for pinafores and Mary Janes. That has been established – here and here and here. Further evidence of my obsession was found today. I have one daughter and three sons. My obsession, of course, is wasted on my boys – who don’t care to be dressed in pinafores or Mary Janes. Here [...]

Are You a Design Nerd? Must Check Out ModernPop.

by sassyandgeorge on March 20, 2009

in Furnishings

Graphic designers love fonts and color. Interior designers love form, texture, color and more. The world is shrinking and the  line between graphic design and interior design is fading. When I look at these prints by ModernPop, I can’t help but see the child’s room designed around them. Clean and crisp. With bursts of bold [...]
