<p><span class="drop_cap">W</span>e&#8217;ve been starting to think about transitioning my two-year-old twin boys into a big boy room. (And when I say &#8220;we&#8221;, please understand that my husband has absolutely no idea that we need to re-decorate when we move the cribs out. &#8220;We&#8221; means me and my interior-design-superstah mother.) It won&#8217;t happen until much later this year probably &#8211; but the thought process has begun.</p>
<p>I was originally thinking a linen-upholstered padded headboard with nailhead trim for each twin bed. But then I thought &#8211; these are the two children who have destroyed more things in my home than I previously thought possible to destroy. Do I really want to give them <em>linen</em>? I&#8217;m now working on Plan B.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t have this problem when planning my daughter&#8217;s big girl room several years ago. I went with a delicate diamond-patchwork quilt from <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-3247548-10502968" target="_blank">The Land of Nod</a><img src="http://www.lduhtrp.net/image-3247548-10502968" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />.  And this bed with a flat pewter finish from <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=113781&amp;U=334625&amp;M=15975" target="_blank">FineIronBeds.com</a>:</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-900" title="twin_coventry_z" src="http://www.sassyandgeorge.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/twin_coventry_z-300x246.jpg" alt="twin_coventry_z" width="300" height="246" /><br />
Coventry bed by Wesley Allen, <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=113781&amp;U=334625&amp;M=15975" target="_blank">FineIronBeds.com</a>, $452 (twin)</p>
<p>I loved it so much that, when we moved to a new house about 18 months later, I bought another one &#8211; so she has two matching twins beds like in the photo. It is really darling. (The beds are shipped via freight carrier directly to your home. No problems at all &#8211; but you will have to arrange a time to be home to accept the shipment off the truck.)</p>
<p>Inspired a bit by the antique brass bed in Heather Armstrong&#8217;s new nursery &#8211; see it over at <a href="http://dooce.com/2009/06/02/not-marias-nursery" target="_blank">dooce.com</a> &#8211; I&#8217;m starting to consider brass or iron beds for the boys&#8217; room. Something strong and traditional though &#8211; not as girly as the Coventry.</p>
<p>Maybe one of these?</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-901" title="twin_arden_z" src="http://www.sassyandgeorge.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/twin_arden_z-300x246.jpg" alt="twin_arden_z" width="300" height="246" />Arden by Wesley Allen, <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=113781&amp;U=334625&amp;M=15975" target="_blank">FineIronBeds.com</a>, $441 (twin)<br />
<br />
<img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-903" title="twin_sena_z" src="http://www.sassyandgeorge.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/twin_sena_z-300x246.jpg" alt="twin_sena_z" width="300" height="246" />Sena by Wesley Allen, <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=113781&amp;U=334625&amp;M=15975" target="_blank">FineIronBeds.com</a>, $601 (twin)<br />
<br />
<img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-902" title="bed_laredo3_z" src="http://www.sassyandgeorge.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/bed_laredo3_z-300x248.jpg" alt="bed_laredo3_z" width="300" height="248" />Laredo by Wesley Allen, <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?B=113781&amp;U=334625&amp;M=15975" target="_blank">FineIronBeds.com</a>, $798 (double)<br />
<br />
I&#8217;d like to see my little hellions try to destroy a bed made of iron&#8230;</p>
